Learn Something New Today
As a child we are encouraged to (and usually do) learn something new every day. If you went to school for 6-9 hours a day and cannot explain or quanitfy what you learned, then something went terribly wrong. The same thing goes with work: if you went to work for 8-9 hours and cannot explain or quantify what you learned that day, then something is wrong. We probably learn something at work...

Safety Issue or Just Lazy?
American Airlines announced it would try to compete with the better of the airlines by offering pajamas and turn-down service in their International First-Class product. It took all of a week before us lazy Americans decided that is a crazy amount of work. Never mind that many leading airlines offer this service. The Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA) filed a grievance, and...

CVG, Delta, ATT, TMobile FAIL.
CVG is on my shit list. No data, voice only. ATT FAIL. Delta SkyClub serving drinks in plastic cups (smaller size means more tips?) And the T-Mobile hosted internet is suuuuuper slow (probably because ATT data is down now). I have a pic, but I can’t upload it because my phone has no ATT data right now, and for whatever reason the T-Mobile authentication page (SkyClub Membership) will load...

Steve Jobs Resigns as CEO of Apple
Thanks to Steve Jobs for everything he’s done at Apple and for the Tech community. Good luck to Tim Cook in his new role as CEO. via everywhere Part of the letter from Jobs: I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come. I hereby resign as CEO of...

First Woman Judo Master 10th Degree Black Belt →
After 98 years, the phone call finally came. Last week, Sensei Keiko Fukuda of San Francisco became the first woman to be promoted to judo’s highest level: 10th degree black belt. Only three people in the world, all men living in Japan, have ever reached that mark. The martial arts promotion by USA Judo brought 98-year-old Fukuda to tears at the women’s dojo where she still...

Drunk JetBlue Passenger: “I Did Not Realize I Was... →
An 18-year old man, drunk from downing 8 alcoholic beverages on a JetBlue flight from JFK to Portland, Oregon, was arrested after he urinated on an 11 year old girl on the plane. The man says that he was so drunk that he didn’t realize that he wasn’t in the bathroom when he decided to urinate on the young passenger. Incredibly, the girl’s father did not beat the living crap out of the guy, though...

Goals: gettin'em done
A friend recently posted her 2011 Summer Goals and even managed to accomplish one the very first weekend. Impressive right? While she is without question ahead of the game, (have YOU updated your goals recently?) the question now is: “How do I avoid ending summer with a list of unaccomplished goals?” Tip 1: Make S.M.A.R.T. Goals Your goals should be specific so that you can create a...

Amazon Cloud Player collapses under demand for...
In a probable attempt to promote Amazon Cloud Player, Amazon MP3 is selling Lady Gaga’s Born This Way album for 99 cents, but it seems that the back end servers can’t handle the load. Most customers have only received a portion of the album and a significant number have received less than half the album causing a number of 1-star ratings on Amazon.com.

12 Years Ago, Star Wars was Revived
Totally Rad Show noted that on this day in 1999 Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace released to theaters which makes me feel old. Here are some interesting facts. 12 years ago on this day… … most people didn’t yet realize how much the story sucked - still in zOMG-THAT-WAS-AWESOME mode … I had no idea who played the decoy Queen Amidala (a girl named Keira Knightley...

Netflix Has A Chaos Monkey... and it is Awesome.
The Chaos Monkey has one job - to run around the Netflix servers and services and create chaos. The Chaos Monkey has one job: to run around and randomly kill services within what Netflix calls their Rambo architecture. Why would a company create chaos within their own working network? Netflix needs each system to expect and tolerate failure from other systems upon which the first system depends....

Microsoft shows off Internet Explorer 10 running... →
After painfully long updates between IE6, IE7, and IE8, Internet Explorer 9 was given notice it’s successor is on the way. IE10 will bring CSS3 support, HTML5 support, and a few W3C APIs. Typical for Microsoft, they were pretty tight lipped about the future of IE except to take a potshot at Chrome (and also Firefox) nothing that faster cadence (releasing more versions more often) does NOT...
