Airport Security: MARK Your Computer

I’m really happy that the iPhone 4 supports a Bluetooth keyboard. I did not take my laptop with me on this trip, and while I did miss not having the large screen, my iPhone handled Hulu just fine.

While returning today, Harrisburg is introducing the X-Ray scanner to their security line significantly slowing things down. For every one person through the new x-ray scanner two people went through the traditional metal detector.

What that means, is your laptop is sitting at the end of the carry-on scanner belt for a good minute, perhaps two, and if you don’t have something obviously unique marking your laptop it’ll be very easy for someone else to walk off with it - especially the ubiquitous and visually identical MacBook Pro.

All told, I’m extremely happy not to be traveling with my laptop, and I probably won’t need to in the future - unless I need Lightroom. When Lightroom shows up on the iPad, I’ll have no need for a laptop. Desktop will then work just fine.
